Contains a receipted bill dated 17 June 1776 that was rendered to the colonies of North America by Dr. Lemuel Buswell of Norwich, Connecticut, for treating Continental Army soldiers in 1776 April. Among Buswell's services were examining soldiers suspected of having contracted smallpox and administering purgatives, emetics, and cathartics. Included are twentieth century correspondence of the donor of the manuscript and Harvard Medical School.
Biographical Notes
Lemuel Buswell was a physician active in Norwich, Connecticut, in the 1770s. He offered his services to the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War.
